Ryan just loves his Uncle Chad and was thrilled when he was in town on business and got to have a 'sleepover' here. Chad hooked him up with some Smith swag (note the headband that accentuates the ears). Would you believe those ears actually don't hear that well?
We took him to get his hearing tested yesterday. Turns out he has 100% fluid-filled inner ears. His eardrums don't move a bit. It is accounting for 25 dB hearing loss in each ear -- and I thought he was just ignoring me :) We're waiting a few more weeks to see if they drain at all and if they don't, he has to have tubes put in to force them to drain. Walking in to the hearing test room, he said "I hope I pass!"

Oh, poor little bug. Good thing you caught it now! It's amazing how smart he is - top of his class when he can't even hear the teacher that well! We'll keep him in our prayers. Love you Ryan!!!
